When it's worth hiring mats rather than asking people to bring their own
Asking attendees to bring their own mat works fine for a small, regular class, but it falls apart quickly for anything bigger or more one-off — a corporate yoga event, a workshop, a retreat, a sound healing session, or team building yoga at a conference. Hiring mats means everyone turns up to a consistent set of clean, matching equipment without you having to chase people to bring their own.
We primarily serve the London area, but we do also supply mats nationally on request, so it's worth asking even if your event is further afield.
What it actually costs
Pricing is tiered by how many mats you need, with the price per mat dropping as the order gets bigger:
- Up to 20 mats — £8.50 per mat
- Up to 30 mats — £7.50 per mat
- Up to 40 mats — £6.50 per mat
- Over 40 mats — £5 per mat
- Blankets — £1 each
Getting the mats to your event
The minimum order is £85, which works out at 10 mats. Courier delivery is available at an additional cost, or you can collect from our East London address if that's more convenient, which can work out cheaper for a smaller event or one closer to that side of the city.
The standard rental covers same-day or 24-hour hire. If you need mats for longer, multi-day hire can be arranged on request, so it's worth flagging early if your event runs across more than a single day.
The house rules for the day
Mats are for indoor or terrace use only — they're not suitable for grass or soil, so an outdoor event on natural ground isn't a fit for hired mats. Participants need to be barefoot or in socks, with no shoes or other footwear allowed on them, and the mats need to stay on your premises between delivery and pickup rather than travelling anywhere in between.
At the end of the event, mats should be rolled up and repackaged as instructed, ready for collection. If a mat comes back unduly soiled or damaged, there's a cleaning fee of £3 per mat, and a £25 replacement fee applies if a mat needs replacing entirely or goes missing.
Hire for one event, or just buy your own
If yoga mats are a one-off or occasional need, hiring makes sense and avoids storing a stack of equipment you'll rarely use in full. If you're running events regularly enough that hire fees start adding up, buying outright is worth considering — mats are available to purchase at £19.95 each, against an RRP of £23.95, sold in multiples of 10 or 12.
Which makes more sense really comes down to frequency. An annual wellness day is usually better served by hiring; a company running several events a year, or one that wants mats on hand permanently, tends to come out ahead buying a set.
