Culture and media teams along the river

Corporate Yoga on the Southbank

Southbank offices tend to be older buildings with real character, home to culture and media organisations working to project and broadcast deadlines rather than markets or pitches. Lunchtime river walks are already the norm here — sessions fit around that rhythm.

Working here

The Southbank has some of the oldest office buildings we work in — converted warehouses and period buildings along the river, with low ceilings in places, odd-shaped rooms, the occasional step up or down where an extension was added decades ago. It has more character than a glass tower, but it also means every session gets adapted slightly to the room rather than the room being adapted to the session.

Culture and media organisations make up a good part of the working population here, and the pace is different to the City or the West End — less markets and pitches, more project and broadcast deadlines that build for weeks and then land hard on one date. That changes the kind of pressure people are carrying into a session: less the panic of a call in twenty minutes, more the low hum of a deadline that's been building all month.

Walking at lunchtime is already normal here in a way it isn't everywhere — the river path is right there, and plenty of people are outside for at least part of their break regardless. Tourist foot traffic along the water is a strange contrast to how quiet some of these older office buildings feel a few floors up, and sessions here often sit later in the day than a strict midday slot, worked around production or broadcast schedules that don't run a standard nine to five.

How we cover Southbank

Older buildings sometimes mean no lift, or a lift built for a different century, so teachers travel light and plan the route in advance. Timing flexes around production and broadcast schedules that can shift day to day, and kit adapts to whatever oddly-shaped room is available that week.
