Case study

Time Out London at Camden Roundhouse

When Time Out London wanted to bring yoga to one of the capital's most recognisable stages, they came to us to produce it. The result ran across four weeks at Camden Roundhouse, with the venue's own theatrical lighting turning a familiar practice into something that felt like an occasion.

Yoga at Scale: Time Out London at Camden Roundhouse

01The brief

Time Out wanted an event that was unmistakably yoga, but staged with the scale and atmosphere of the Roundhouse itself. That meant thinking beyond a single class and planning something that could run week after week, for a floor of participants rather than an office room.

It also meant working somewhere quite unlike a corporate office: a busy public venue with its own crew and its own way of doing things, which the sessions needed to sit comfortably inside rather than fight against.

02How we ran it

We handled the practical end of things throughout: teachers, kit and scheduling, coordinated so that four weeks of sessions could run back to back without the logistics becoming visible to anyone taking part.

Mats went down on the sand of Camden Beach — the Roundhouse's pop-up summer beach — in place of the usual meeting room or clear corner. Teaching yoga outdoors, on sand, to a public crowd takes a different kind of setup to an office class, but the sessions themselves stayed straightforward and welcoming to whoever turned up.

03What it showed

The format proved that yoga can hold its own at a venue built for very different things, and that a large public-facing event can still feel personal once you're on the mat. It also gave us a good working template for running the same session, well, across multiple dates rather than treating each one as a one-off.

We're glad to talk through more detail on how a production like this comes together, including how we'd approach something similar for your own organisation, on a call.
